In commissioning this project, the client’s objectives were to create space that would mesh their working and parenting/family life style accommodating their growing children (at the time -- all under the age of 6). They wanted to enlarge their home by adding a new area to the back of the home where they would gather often and be close to their children. Opening up and expanding the kitchen and breakfast areas included a clear view from the kitchen and into the additions’ family room and entertainment center, and through the new picture windows to be able to watch their children in the pool. In addition, they wanted to modernize their home, upgrading the electrical system and adding can lights, removing existing carpets and replacing with solid floor surfaces, add built-ins throughout including an area to store their wine, and in general brighten their home. Their final objective was to be able to live in their home during this construction.
